Puglia Wine Week brought quality wine from Puglia to Canada through events mainly in Ottawa, but also in Montreal and Toronto. Wine lovers, restaurateurs, journalists and wine buyers had the opportunity to enjoy the culture of Puglia's wines, its bouquet and taste, to get to know the producers who play a starring role in the excellence that comes from the happy union of a natural environment extremely suited to a rare collection of autochthonous wine grapes.
La Puglia des vins magnifiques
by Ian D'Agata
Puglia, for its number of wineries, is the second in Italy and the fourth in the world. Its motto is "territory, seasonality and quality," terms that are well suited to the current production. Its name is always associated with the production of great wines, especially reds. Today we know it is also a land of good white wines.
All this is due to a bunch of advantages that few other regions of Italy, and very few other places in the world, can boast. Indeed Puglia can count on not only on a good climate and land, but also on an extraordinary ampelographic heritage.
Such a great potential has been only slowly appreciated and translated into practice. A situation attributable to the delay with which the wine and agronomics quality arrived in the heel of Italy and that has been overturned by the passion and the ability of many who devote all themselves to their land.
